About Brody's Bakery

Brody's Bakery is a small bakery located in the Kansas City, MO area run by Katie O.

"Although I was fortunate enough to be raised by vegetarian parents, it wasn't until my son Brody was diagnosed with classic autism at the age of 15 months old that I truly threw myself into learning about food and how it can effect our bodies and really our entire lives.

Eating a vegan diet has made astounding changes in the lives of my entire family, and when I started experimenting with vegan baking, I realized very quickly that I had found my passion!

Nothing makes me feel better than to be able to provide a delicious treat for a person who just didn't think they could eat that special treat anymore due to whatever dietary restriction that they may have. Another wonderful feeling is to be able to provide desserts that are 100% cruelty free and made from only the highest quality organic ingredients.

There is a belief in Hinduism that whatever you're eating carries a bit of the "state of mind" of the person who made it, and I truly believe this. I hope that the compassion and kindness that I try to carry with me comes out in my desserts and I hope that above all else I can help to remind people that 'living without' can always be delicious! " - Katie

Katie is a volunteer for Missouri Pitbull Rescue. She is a member of Pinups for Pitbulls, a non-profit organization which raises funds and awareness for pit bulls and bully-breed dogs. She is shown here with Spartacus, a MPR rescue who is now adopted, as Miss February 2010.
