Why Vegan?

We at Brody's Bakery value all animal life equally and choose not to eat or produce any products that contain eggs, dairy products or any other animal products. From our vegan sugar down to the sprinkles that we use, every product that we use is certified vegan. We also do not use any other products in our bakery that might contain animal products or might be tested on animals (soaps, cleaning products, etc).

Why gluten-free?
Given the ever growing rate of people with gluten intolerances and Celiac disease (Katie, the owner & baker has Celiac!), we have chosen to use only gluten-free flours, grains and other GF products in our desserts. Our desserts are all made on dedicated GF equipment so there are no worries about cross contamination. Having to give up a food for your health should NOT mean having to give up taste!

Why organic?
The answer to this one is pretty easy; we only want to use the good stuff! All of our ingredients here at Brody's are organic and most are also certified fair trade. You won't find any junky chemicals or toxic dyes in our desserts either; even our food colorings are made from vegetables. Our bodies and systems are being constantly bombarded by toxins and pollutants from a million different sources on a daily basis and we choose not to add to that by using only whole foods and real, unprocessed ingredients.

"Although I was fortunate enough to be raised by vegetarian parents, it wasn't until my son Brody was diagnosed with classic autism at the age of 15 months old that I truly threw myself into learning about food and how it can effect our bodies and really our entire lives.

Eating a vegan diet has made astounding changes in the lives of my entire family, and when I started experimenting with vegan baking, I realized very quickly that I had found my passion!

Nothing makes me feel better than to be able to provide a delicious treat for a person who just didn't think they could eat that special treat anymore due to whatever dietary restriction that they may have. Another wonderful feeling is to be able to provide desserts that are 100% cruelty free and made from only the highest quality organic ingredients.

There is a belief in Hinduism that whatever you're eating carries a bit of the "state of mind" of the person who made it, and I truly believe this. I hope that the compassion and kindness that I try to carry with me comes out in my desserts and I hope that above all else I can help to remind people that 'living without' can always be delicious!
